This week we wrote a descriptive life cycle of a penguin. Take a look at the start of one of our pupils work.
Everyone in Year 2 tried really hard to keep their eggs safe over the past few weeks, but in the end not all eggs survived until the final day.
We want to say a big well done for everyone who tried to keep their eggs safe but we want to give massive congratulations to the following pupils who managed to keep their eggs safe and sound for two whole weeks!
Atlantis: Emma, Dashly, Zephaniah, Amir, Arshia, Kian & Alejandro.
Apollo: Noah, Daniil, Daisy, Taya, Jordan, Fareed & Israel.
You have all been fantastic egg parents and your eggs were lucky to have you!
In year 2, we are learning about The Arctic and Antarctica with a focus on penguins.
In class we have been discussing how penguins care for their delicate eggs to protect them from the harsh conditions of Antarctica.
We wanted to give the children the experience of caring for a precious egg and so they have been given a hard boiled egg to care for over the month of November.
It is very important that penguins stay with their egg at all times to stop it dying of cold or breaking on the ice so we will be checking the children have the egg with them in school every day.
If they wish, they can build a nest for their egg to keep it safe and warm!
Any children who’s egg survives until the end of November with their egg in tact will receive a certificate for being a successful penguin parent.
Good luck!

The children have been sent home with logins and passwords for
Times Tables Rock Stars – Times Tables Rock Stars
Please can you encourage them to use these regularly as it will really help them with their development in maths.
Please let us know if there are any problems.
In Year 2 we looked at the positive impact Marcus Rashford has had on his local community and Britain as a whole.
They produced beautiful sketches, collages and fact files about him.
Take a look!
Here is a picture of Year 2 in their beautiful red clothes to show racism the red card!
Sometimes the students have the chance to become the experts in Year 2. Below is an image of one of the pupils doing some teaching input on what a noun is. The class often respond very positively when learning from their peers and have a lot of fun in the process! I wonder if this is a future teacher in the making?
It has been an excellent start to year 2, and we have had so much fun getting to know each other!
We have had a great start to the year learning about the United Kingdom and some of it’s most interesting landmarks. The children wrote a wonderful, descriptive piece of writing about these landmarks.
In math’s, we have been looking at place value and have used practical resources to support the children’s learning.
Just a gentle reminder, homework is given out on Friday’s and needs to be handed in by the following Tuesday. Every child has a reading record and this must be signed before we can change their books. Reading at home is extremely important, so please encourage your child to read every day if possible.
We look forward to the great year ahead.
